THE HINDI ALPHABET
Idea by Ambika Nehru
Using some of the walls at Tulsi Pipe Road, on 11th october 2009. We are adding a new dimension combining art, fun
and sharing by trying some variations in the way the hindi font (alphabet) is written and represented.
another way to look at it is as a Literacy Wall - can be a 24/7 free education
programme which everyone can access and learn from as they pass by the road.
Some information and guidelines:
1) There are 42 characters in the Hindi alphabet.
2) Wall project volunteers will pre-mark the walls with each alphabet (in
chalk) so that the alphabets are in order and there is no confusion.
3) Alphabets on the walls can be taken on the painting day
on a first-come first-serve basis.
The person painting the particular alphabet can choose the symbol or object representing the alphabet.
example "M" se "Maa" etc. see reference attached.
4) The alphabet can be in any font/size or style you choose, as long as it is
easily recognisable and readable by anyone on the street.
5) Please avoid advertising products and any form of branding or
obscenity! Let’s keep this project pure.
